Safety checklist
Before you hand over your pet
Cooky connects pet parents and hosts. It doesn’t check IDs or homes, so these eight checks are yours. Every host page and chat in the app links here. Tick each one off as you go.
The eight checks
Report and block
Every profile, home and chat has Report and Block. Reports are private: the person won’t see who sent one. A person on our team reads every report, and we can hide listings and remove accounts. You can report a host for:
- Photos or listing don’t match the home
- The home isn’t safe for pets
- Asked for an advance or extra money
- Rude, threatening or inappropriate
- My pet was hurt or neglected
- Something else
In an emergency, call your local emergency number
If you, your pet or anyone else is in danger, call the emergency number where you are (112 in India and across Europe, 911 in the US and Canada, 999 in the UK) before anything else. For a sick or injured pet, go to the nearest vet. Agree which vet with the host before the stay and save the number.
Then tell us through Report in the app, so we can act on the account.
01 Our part
Clear about what we do
Cooky connects people and confirms only the Google or Apple account someone signs in with. Nobody on Cooky carries a badge that says they’ve been checked.
Cooky does
- Confirms which Google or Apple account each person signs in with
- Looks at every home photo before it counts towards the five a home needs
- Removes location details from photo files, and hides a host’s exact address until they accept
- Shows reviews only from stays both sides confirmed
- Reads every report, and can hide listings, remove accounts and work with the police when the law requires
Cooky doesn’t
- Check IDs, homes, backgrounds or police records
- Visit or inspect homes
- Insure pets, hosts or homes, or take part in the stay
- Take, hold or process money for stays
For hosts
Checks go both ways
- Meet the pet and their parent at your home before you agree a stay.
- See the vaccination certificates, and ask about bites, fears, medicines and food.
- Keep the pet parent’s number and the agreed vet’s number where you can find them.
- Decline anything that doesn’t feel right, and report anyone who makes you uneasy.

Coming soon, on Android first
Cooky is coming to Google Play soon, and the iPhone app follows. Pet parents and hosts use the same app, and one account can be both.
Android first. iPhone later.
