Meet the host before you agree

Your dog naps on a sofa, not in a kennel. Your cat keeps a quiet corner of their own. Someone who loves pets looks after them at home, and you meet them first.

01 How it works

Find them a second home

Four moments, from the first search to the day you drop them off. Here’s what each one looks like in the app.

  1. Step 1: Find a home near you

Look for hosts on a map of your neighbourhood. Pins show the area, never the exact address, until a host accepts your request.

  2. Step 2: See every corner first

Every home shows at least five photos the host took: where your pet will sleep, the balcony, the gate, even where the food is kept.

  3. Step 3: Chat, then meet at the home

Send a request with your dates and your pet. Once the host says yes, chat opens. Visit before the stay and go through the safety checklist together.

  4. Step 4: Agree the stay. Pay the host

You and the host agree the dates and the price, and you pay them directly, the way you both agree. Cooky never touches stay money.

Every step, from request to review

02 Safety

Cooky doesn’t check hosts. You do.

Cooky confirms only the Google or Apple account someone signs in with. So the app gives you eight checks to go through at the host’s home, and every host page and chat links to them.

  • Every home photo is looked at before it goes live.
  • The exact address stays hidden until the host says yes.
  • Report and block are on every profile, home and chat.

Read the eight checks

At the home

  • Meet the host at their home Before the stay, not on drop-off day.
  • See where your pet will sleep, eat and play Clean, shaded and away from anything that could hurt them.
  • Check balcony grills, gates and windows Look for gaps a small pet could slip through.

About the host

  • See the host’s government ID in person Check the name matches their Cooky profile.
  • Ask about other pets and children at home And how they’ll keep everyone safe together.

Agree before you go

  • Share vaccination records and care notes Food, medicines, allergies and habits.
  • Agree daily photo updates and the nearest vet Save the vet’s number before you leave.
  • Agree the price and how you’ll pay You pay the host directly. Cooky never takes stay money.

All 8 done. If anything still feels off, trust your gut.

03 Paying for a stay

The host’s rate, paid to the host

Every host sets their own nightly rate, in their own currency, and Cooky shows it as theirs. You agree the final price and how you’ll pay, and you pay the host directly.

  • Cooky never takes, holds or handles money for a stay.
  • No booking fee, and no cut of what you pay the host.
  • Never pay anyone before you’ve met them at their home.

04 Questions

Before you ask

All questions

Does Cooky check hosts?

No. Cooky confirms only the Google or Apple account a host signs in with. It reviews home photos before they go live and acts on reports, but it doesn’t check IDs, homes or backgrounds, and it never gives anyone a badge that says they’ve been checked. That’s why every host page and chat links to the safety checklist: meet the host at their home, see their government ID in person and check the space yourself before you agree anything.

How do I pay the host?

Directly, in whatever way you both agree, such as a bank transfer, a payment app or cash. Cooky never takes, holds or processes money for stays, so there’s nothing to pay in the app for a stay. Agree the price and how you’ll pay before the stay starts, and don’t send money to anyone you haven’t met at their home.

How much does pet boarding on Cooky cost?

Each host sets their own nightly rate, in their own currency, and shows it on their page as a guide. You agree the final price with the host. Cooky doesn’t add a booking fee or take a cut of the stay.
